M. Barbato (University of Naples ‘L’Orientale’), Arturo De Vivo (University of Naples ‘Federico II’), and L. Minervini (University of Naples ‘Federico II’) have met and discussed about the perspectives offered by Alberto Varvaro’s book, Il latino e la formazione delle lingue romanze, il Mulino, Bologna 2014, by different scholarly approaches.
This book – originated from lessons taught at the University of California (Berkeley) in 1985 – provides a short critical survey of the circulation of the Latin language through the Roman Empire and of the making of the Romance languages.
