G. Del Mastro, V. Piano, and M.C. Scappaticcio (Univ. of Naples ‘Federico II’) have offered an updated framework of Herculaneum papyri, with an eye on Latin items preserved in the ancient library. Del Mastro has outlined the story of the discovery of the Villa and the opening of the rolls from the earliest attempts to the most recent technological devices; V. Piano has disseminated some of the results of her inquiry on P.Herc. 1047, providing both bibliological and textual data; M.C. Scappaticcio has analysed the content and the political tendency of P.Herc. 817, the well-know Carmen de bello Actiaco.
